Because a Women's heart is Different...
IN addition, women who take charge of their heart health set an example for their families and friends and influence their behavior regarding lifestyle. As the “heart” of the family, a woman makes three-quarters of all medical, nutritional, and health decisions in American households, spending nearly two out of three U.S. healthcare dollars each year- nearly a half trillion. Therefore, every woman should be an educated health consumer.
Women do not often take the risk of heart disease seriously or personally. They fail to make the connection between known risk factors and their own chances of developing heart disease. Many women of not recognize the early symptoms of heart disease, due to a widespread lack of awareness of heart disease as an important issue. Women’s heart attack symptoms may be different from men’s symptoms. For example, they often include nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath, and pain in the back, shoulder, neck or arm.
